Are films primarily art or entertainment? (Friday Question Fun)

Friday Question Fun

First off, I’d really like to apologize for falling so far behind here. My last post was exactly a week ago with another Friday Question Fun entry. I have been oddly busy at work and haven’t really had time for the site or, to be honest, movie watching in general. I STILL need to have my stats wrap-ups for 2012 and I’m just embarrassed I haven’t done it at this point. I wish things were different, but they look to stay this way for a little bit.

As for this week’s question…

Are films primarily art or entertainment?

When is a film too long? (Friday Question Fun)

Friday Question Fun archive

Last weekend, my wife, mother, and I saw Lincoln and while it’s undeniably one of the better movies of 2012, it felt like a much longer movie than it is. In fact, I hear fairly often that people don’t like sitting through movies that go on past two hours.

When do you feel like a film is too long?

Do you avoid watching movies past that length?

What should my 2013 goal be? (Friday Question Fun)

Friday Question Fun archive

Can you believe this is the final Friday of 2012?  I can’t.

I also can’t believe that – barring some unforeseen circumstance – I was able to watch 300 movies this year. I admire those of you that were able to watch more than I did because keeping a full time job, other hobbies, AND writing for the site has taken a ton of time…and that doesn’t even include finding time to watch movies!

A sincere thank you to everyone that has read anything on my site for your support. I have had a great time writing my thoughts on movies and taking the time to chat with so many wonderful people this year. Now, I have a favor of you to ask.

What should my 2013 movie watching goal be?

Previous Friday Question Fun entries

This week, I was inspired by my friend Justin over at Today I Watched A Movie. For his scoring system he devotes a whole section to product placement and every time I read a review of his I ponder this question myself.

Does product placement bother you?

Do you buy or rent movies? (Friday Question Fun)

Friday Question Fun

Since I think this is strictly a US thing…for those of you outside the US, the day after Thanksgiving most stores have huge sales/promotions in an effort to kick off holiday shopping called Black Friday. Malls become filled with pushy shoppers, streets become littered with idiotic drivers, and wallets become empty and abused. But man, some deals can be had!

So the question this week is split:

Do you normally buy or rent movies?

If you are in the US, what Black Friday deals are you taking advantage of?
